History Club of UCR

We welcome all students interested in history, a little or alot!!

Welcome to the first-ever History Club at UC Riverside. We are ready for the Fall quarter 2003 ! Check out our "What's new page."

Be sure to look soon at our other pages to see what our members are posting.

This quarter we will hold our meetings on Wednesday's at four in terrace room D. The Terrace Rooms are located behind the campus commons stores. Everybody is welcome to attend, and you don't have to be a history major. Come at any time!.

Join us in creating an organization that lets you put your own special mark on the University.

We don't just talk about history! We enjoy meeting new people, helping each other employment and academic opportunities and enjoying university life.

These people have all been of enormous help in founding the History Club. Thanks go out to Susan Komura, Professor Cogswell, the faculty and TA's (that's you Amos) of the History Department. The President of the Dance, Karen Haley, should be thanked too...a little. When are you going to do that Interpretive Dance of UCR, Karen? And I seem to remember Pulu throwing his hat into the ring...

Our Members
Our current members include intelligent friendly faces. The Club is fortunate to have such people. Here are their names and bios:

Kimberly: She is a junior and has recently transferred from Los Angeles Valley College. A history major with a concentration of the American Civil War. Kim also belongs to the Circle K volunteer organization and enjoys working with children. She is also plannning a trip to Washington D.C. with the UCDC program.


Amanda is a history major at UCR. Her field of greatest interest is film history. She spends her free time reading the Bible, watching classic films, working on her genealogy, and bonding with her dog and seven cats.

Alexa: She is also a junior and history major with a concentration is American history. Other interests include Imperial Russia, conspiracy theories and just a general knowledge of the past.

Stephanie: She is a junior and transferred from RCC, just last fall. Steph is a history major with a concentration is Colonial Northern America but extremly interested in Political science as well. In fact she plans to attend law school at UC Davis.


Marie: She is a History/Administrative Studies major from Monterey in central CA. Her favorite areas of history are science, 19th century, U.S. labor movements, public policy and Inkling studies. In the future she plans on receiving a masters of Public Administration and doing human resources for the city.

Jennifer: Our new club President. She is a transfer student from Chaffey community college and now is a senior. Her concentration is European history, particulary the Victorian Era, the Roaring twenites and WWII. She considers herself a social historian, with an interest in the lives of women, children and the societies minorities. Jennifer is planning to go into education and teaching high school.

Michael K: Michael is a history major with a concentration in Ancient and Medieval history. However, recently has found a reall interest in the American West. He would one day like to be a great author.

Michael S: A former write for the Highlander and X Factor, Michael shares his journalism skills with the History Club. He is going to graduate in a self-customized BA program.

Lindsay: is a third year senior in the University Honors Program. She is a history major with an emphasis in modern American history. In the winter she will be working on ann Honors upper divison thesis with Professor Ransom on the Civil War topic. While not at school, Lindsay is a soccer coach for AYSO girls soccer team.

Jake: He has spent sometime in Ecuador and from that experience has learned the importance of history. He is a transfer student form RCC and plans to one day get his PH.D. His major is law and society.

Mike C.: His historical interests are European and Latin American history. He enjoys analyzing European and American relations. Mike is planning to attend graduate school.


Other members include Kelly, Naty and Karl.


Alum's include: Melanie, Tony, John, Jessica, Sharon, Anthony, Mosenrob, Saulena, Lucas, Enrico and Elizabeth.

A Typical Meeting
We meet weekly in one of the Terrace rooms, a specific one will be on our website. We usually issue out an agenda and just talk about different topics related to history or other things abuot life in general. We would love for you to come listen and join in the discussion. Also every now and again we have professors give us a guest lecture. Everyone is welcome. Our past trips have taken us to the Heritage House in Riverside, the Getty Museum in LA, the Huntington Library and Gardens in Pasadena, the Japanese Culture Museum, and the LA County Museum of Art, the old Fox theature in Riverside.
